The Slovenia Mountains

Slovenia has some of the most interesting and breathtaking alpines in the world. Slovenia is covered largely by mountains and forests and thus a nice place to go for holidays. Depending on which season you plan to visit the country, you will still have a great experience with the diverse mountain landscape. The mountains have a lot of the alpine plants and also animals such as marmot or ibex.
The Julian Alps
These are the largest mountains in the whole area of Slovenia. A large part of the mountain is owned by the Triglav National Park. It starts from northeastern Italy and stretches further to Slovenia rising to 2862 meters as its highest pinnacle. This is a place for natural treasure with plenty of sources of water and the rich fauna. There are crisscross paths in the mountain range and you will love the quietness that is around the mountain.
The Karavanke Alps
It stretches between Austria and Slovenia and the longest ranges in the parts of Europe. Its highest and giant peaks are the Stol at 2236 meters and Kepa at 2143 meters which rise on the western side. There are passes like Ljubelj pass and Jezerski vrh cutting through the mountain range. A large part is covered by deciduous trees, pine, larch and alpine meadows. If you visit the mountains in spring, you will find the red and yellow orchids that look like a nice and colorful carpet.

Kamnik-Savinja Alps

The name was derived from the Kamnik town and the River Sava. This is an extensive mountain with peaks like Grintovec, Kocna and Skuta. There is the Velina Planina plateau where you could see cows grazing in summer. There are thick pine forests in which there are huts and chapel within the green valleys. You can visit the Logarska dolina valley with its 20 waterfalls such as Rinka and Planek.
